Aaron vs. Ruth: Battle of the Big Bats

The first game I bought for my computer was Front Page Sports Baseball Pro '96. I'm impressed with all the stats it keeps and the realism. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the patience to play a whole season by managing every game and I don't like letting the computer run the game because of the way it uses up my pitchers.

I was in Office Depot the other day and they had a bin of games on sale for 15 bucks a throw. I can't pass by something like that. Baseball games always catch my eye and Aaron vs. Ruth, Battle of the Big Bats (by Mindscape Sports Advantage (MSA). The basic game features 35 Hall of Fame (a couple will or should be there) sluggers, hitters, and pitchers and Sadoharu Oh. Josh Gibson made the cut from the Negro Leagues. The whole game revolves around these greats and in seasonal play, involving 10 teams

additional players (computer generated) are added. The ballparks are Ebbets and Crosley Fields, the Polo Grounds and Willcome Field, which is the Field of Dreams.Aaron vs. Ruth doesn't keep huge amounts of stats but it's fun and easy to play. It reminds me of the Hardball that was out a few years ago. There are Home Run Derby, single game, series, and seasonal options The featured sluggers are highly detailed in their approach at the plate, Joe Morgan doing his chicken wing, Willie Stargell doing his routine, Willie Mays swinging for it all and Babe Ruth's home run trot.

If you don't have the time or the patience for a long, involved league-type game and just want to club a few homers using the names you know, this is the game for you.
